Record your first test
A test case is a recording of the steps a user takes in your application, plus the checks that confirm the application behaved correctly. You create one by using your application normally while the recorder watches.
Record the test
Section titled “Record the test”- Open the web application you want to test.
- Select the CloudQA icon in the toolbar, then select Record. The icon turns red while recording.
- Use your application as a user would. The recorder captures clicks, typing and dropdown selections in order.
- Add checks as you go (see below).
- Select Pause to stop temporarily, or Clear to discard what you have recorded so far.
Add assertions and hovers
Section titled “Add assertions and hovers”A test that only performs actions can’t tell you whether the application responded correctly. Add assertions to verify results, for example that an element exists or contains specific text.
- To add an assertion, right-click an element and choose Assert….
- To record a menu that opens only on hover, add a Hover step from the same right-click menu.
The assertion type defaults to Check. You can change it later in Edit steps. Common types are Check, Check Not, Contains, Less Than, Greater Than and Exists. See Assertions for the full list.
Save and run
Section titled “Save and run”- Open the extension, name the test case and save it.
- Set a priority, add tags and write a short description. These make large suites much easier to search and filter.
- Select Edit Test Case to review the steps, or Execute Test Case to run it now.
You can delete unwanted steps while you record, and you can add steps to an existing test later.
