TestRail Integration

TestRail integration allows you to link a test in TestRail to a test in CloudQA. The testsuite run results will automatically be shown in TestRails giving you full visibility to both your manual test results as well as your automated tests in a single view.

Setting TestRail integration

Steps in Test Rail

  • Sign up and log in to TestRail. If you haven't already, you'll need to create an account at https://www.gurock.com/testrail/. Once you've signed up, log in to your TestRail account.

  • Create a new project. To do this, click on the "Projects" tab in the top navigation bar, and then click the "Add Project" button. Follow the on-screen instructions to create your project.

  • Obtain your TestRail API key. To use TestRail's API, you'll need an API key. To obtain your key, go to "Administration" and click on "My Site". Then, click on the "API" tab, and check the "Enable API" box. You'll also need to check the "Enable API for individual users" box to allow each user to have their own API key. Once you've done this, click on "My Settings" and then "API Keys". Click the "Add" button to create a new API key, and give it a name (e.g. "CloudQA"). Then, click the "Add API Key" button, and your new API key will be generated. Copy the API key before saving

  • Add test cases to TestRail Project created in step 2. To add a new test case in TestRail, go to the "Test Cases" tab and click the "Add Test Case" button. Give your test case a name, and add any necessary steps, preconditions, and expected results. Be sure to give your test case the same name as the test case you have in CloudQA.

Integration steps in CloudQA

This process is required only once.

  • Integrate TestRail with CloudQA. To integrate TestRail with CloudQA, you'll need to obtain your TestRail API URL, username, API key, and Project ID.

  • In CloudQA, navigate to your Settings and click on the "Integrations" tab. Then, click the "TestRail" button, and Add the details of Test Rail.

  • Run your CloudQA test suite(s) and view results in TestRail. Once you've mapped your CloudQA tests to TestRail test cases, you can run your tests in CloudQA. When your tests are complete, you'll be able to see the results in TestRail.

  • To view your test results, go to the "Test Runs" tab in TestRail, and select the test run that corresponds to your CloudQA test. You'll be able to see the status of each test case.
